Jayant Singh, the prime accused of the Ariadaha mob assault case, surrendered at Kolkata’s Belgharia police station today. Four days ago, a mother-son duo was beaten mercilessly in Jayant Singh was named accused. According to the police, 10 more people have been arrested in this case so far.
Jayant Singh is a local TMC strongman who led when attacking Sayandip Panja and his mother. He was identified in CCTV footage. Claiming that everything is a planned drama, BJP's Sajal Ghosh said, “Second Sheikh Shahjahan, TMC leaders have been sheltering him.” As per Ghosh, the leaders convinced Singh to surrender and stay in custody for 7-8 days as the people were angry.
CPI(M) also launched an attack on TMC over the 'failure to arrest Jayant Singh'. Sujan Chakraborty said, “Is it an arrest or is it being shown that he is caught? That’s a big question.” Sujan also said Singh dared to attack the family members due to his proximity to influential TMC leaders, adding that TMC survives on such criminals as Sheikh Shahjahan and Jayant Singh.
